Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow.

Lake Travis on a overcast day with beer and a waverunner.

If you haven’t been to Austin… It’s unlike any other city in Texas. As a matter of fact, Austin is probably just the opposite of what you would think about Texas. For starters, Austin is the gateway to the Texas Hill country, so the terrain ranges from very flat to almost mountainous. Also, Austin sits on chain of lakes that supply the water for all of the surrounding areas. Today I went out to Lake Travis to ride WaveRunners, swim and drink cold beer. Lake Travis is one of the biggest lakes in the chain of lakes that make up the Lower Colorado River.
Here are some quick facts on Lake Travis:

  • Length: 63.75 Miles
  • Width: 4 Miles at widest point
  • Coverage: 18,929 acres
  • Shoreline: 271 Miles

  • So, as I was saying before, we went out to Lake Travis today and rode my friend Paul’s WaveRunner. The water was probably around 80 degrees and the sky was cloudy and the beer was on ice. After being out on the lake for about 4 hours, I felt my skin starting to burn even though I had a SPF 50 sunscreen on. It’s a good thing we ran out of beer because I think if I would have stayed out in the sun any longer I would have been bright red instead of the shade of bright pink that I was. I guess the next time I go out to the lake I’ll have to coat my skin with thick white “lifeguard” sunscreen.
