Best view in Austin- Mt Bonnell
Published by Chris | Filed under Austin, Parks
If you live in Austin or are planning a visit sometime soon then I would “highly” recommend a trip to MT. Bonnell. Mount Bonnell is generally considered the highest point in Austin at 775 feet. If you go be prepared to hike up 100 or so stairs to get to the top. Bring a camera because the views are great. The park is open daily from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Note: There is a legend that Mt. Bonnell was once called Antoinette’s Leap, named after a damsel who leaped to her death to avoid capture from Indians that killed her lover, who fought to his death to defend her. Now generally considered safe, Mt. Bonnell is one of the most romantic locations in Austin. Keep your heads clear and avoid walking too close to the cliffs!
