Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow.

It’s over 100 degrees and my power bill is going to suck

I lived in Austin for a short time back in the late 90’s. For some reason, I don’t remember it being this hot. Its been hovering around 100 degrees for the last two months, so I’ve been living inside the air conditioner. I’m not sure which is better, Seattle winters or Austin summers. I grew up in North Carolina and for the most part, with out air conditioner. But, I find myself, here in Austin, running the air conditioner every where I go. It surprises me how active this city is, despite the heat. Pretty much every afternoon, you’ll see people all over, on bikes and jogging or walking the town lake trail. I guess I’m just not use to it yet. I wonder what other people do here to escape the sun? I know I end up drinking lots of water during the day and “Texas cold” beer at night.

On a side note, if anyone cares, I’ve been busy with a new position as the Director of E-commerce for Earth & Sky and have been busy trying to get up to speed. I was hired to add a new e-commerce channel to a 15 year old non profit. I’m use to running the show and moving quickly with ideas, not the case with a non profit. I work with a great staff in a great local in Austin, but have my work cut out for me. This should be a good challenge. I’ll keep everyone updated
