Go get em! Both Bank of America and FIA tried to raise my rates, which I thought was pretty shitty. However, I called them and they lowered the rates back to where they were originally. They put up a fight, but I persisted and they complied, except that I can’t use my cards again or they will raise the rates again. Credit Card companies do suck, but, we’re the ones who used their money. Solution to the problem would be not to use credit cards.

I think most SEO people knew that google doesn’t pay much attention to meta tags. No surprise here. But, keep in mind, other search engines still use meta tags.

Crunchpod tablet looking like a reality

Techcrunch is a super popular tech blog, who’s now making a jump into consumer electronics. Specifically, they are spearheading a effort to build a “dead simple and dirt cheap touch screen web tablet to surf the web”. From the looks of the new prototype, they’re getting close to making this project a reality. Techcrunch promises more info soon, including video. Google in Talks to buy Twitter

The word on the interwebs is that Twitter is in early talks with Google about acquisition. What would that mean for Twitter? Biz Stone and Evan Williams both have already done a past deal with google, when they sold their company Blogger in 2003. With the momentum that Twitter currently has, it would make sense that Google or Microsoft would be interested in purchasing them. Where’s yahoo in this deal? They use to be they guys that bought the cool companies (Flickr, delicious). Either way, it’ll be interesting to see what happens.

Skype coming to a iPhone near you

Looks like we’ll finally be getting a skype iPhone app, sometime tomorrow. CNET has some good info and pics over on their site. I’m not sure that the skype on my iPhone will make my life any easier, but, it’s a nice start. If you have an iPhone, keep a look out for the skype app tomorrow (3-31-2009).

Social Media Camp Austin and Mashable Summer Mash

This past Wednesday (July 30) I attended Social Media Camp Austin, as well as the Mashbale Summer Mash event later that night. Both events were great and well organized. The Social Media Camp was an all day event where anyone could speak on any topic related to social media. One of the most discussed topics was Twitter. Seems as if Twitter is really catching hold, not only with the “where you at” crowd but also with corporate america. Dell said that they have tracked over $500k of sales from twitter. The Austin American Statesman also uses Twitter and said that they will have Twitter streams for ACL and UT Football. All an all it was a great event. Later that night, Mashable.com hosted their SummerMash event, upstairs at Buffalo Billiards. It was a great event as well, but, how can you go wrong with a open bar.
